CALCULATOR

THE SCIENCE BEHIND...

background and application

This calculator takes inspiration from the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation which calculates basal metabolic rate (BMR), and its results are based on an estimated average. The basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy expended per day at rest.

We have decided to also consider the age and aggressiveness of the diet which many calculators do not. This will help you to get a more accurate starting point

Application:

As with any result from a calculator, this number represents your starting estimate figure. There are so many factors that can affect a person’s daily numbers.  You should adjust your caloric intake depending on the results that you are seeing.

If you notice that you are losing weight too quickly, you should increase these numbers slowly until you are at your desired target.

Conversely, if you notice that you are not losing weight quick enough, (within a healthy standard) then you should decrease these numbers.

The same principle applies to weight gain.
